Mr Madhu Tiruveedhula is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Adult Foot and Ankle Surgery, with additional expertise in diabetic foot reconstruction and limb deformity correction across all age groups.
He has a particular interest in flat foot reconstruction in both children and adults and is recognised for his work in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgical techniques for the correction of deformities such as bunions, claw toes, and other conditions requiring bony .
Mr Tiruveedhula strongly advocates a holistic approach promoting both non-surgical and surgical treatment strategies for patients with flat feet, forefoot pain, heel pain, and knee pain. His management philosophy places emphasis on corrective orthotics, structured home exercise programmes, physiotherapy, and surgery where symptoms persist despite conservative treatment.
He also has significant experience in first metatarsophalangeal joint silastic replacement for patients with end-stage arthritis of the big toe, aiming to preserve mobility and enable patients to continue wearing shoes of their choice and maintain active lifestyles, including manual work and recreational activities such as dancing.
A major focus of Mr Tiruveedhula’s work is the prevention and surgical management of diabetic foot complications. He is actively involved in education and training through the organisation of teaching programmes, cadaveric workshops, and specialist reconstruction courses. He has delivered webinars and spoken at both national and international diabetic foot conferences. He organised Diabetic Foot Reconstruction Cadaveric Workshops for vascular surgeons in July 2025, and for orthopaedic surgeons in Cambridge, UK, in 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025. He also organised the 9th Annual Conference of the International Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons in November 2023.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Tiruveedhula is actively involved in research, with particular interests in clinical outcomes following flat foot reconstruction and diabetic foot reconstruction. His work reflects a strong commitment to patient-centred care, innovation in surgical techniques, education, and the advancement of orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery.
